The AFDXSwitch 3U VPX is a rugged, ultra-light weight, conduction cooled, out-of-the-box high-performance Ethernet switch specifically designed to meet the challenges of the harshest environments. This AFDX switch is ideally suited for building robust and reliable networks in rotorcraft and aircraft vehicles with up to 1000 Mbit/s at full line speeds.

Features of the AFDX3U VPX Rugged Switch

The 16 port AFDXSwitch 3U VPX Rugged is one of the most robust AFDX switches on the market. Complying to MIL-STD-810G aerospace standard the AFDX switch operates under the harshest environmental conditions found in the air and on land: withstanding forces up to 40 G, vibrations of 2000 Hz, temperatures of up to +85 °C while remaining fully operational at an altitude of 18,300 m (60,000 ft) above sea level and still weighing less than an iPad.

This high-performance AFDXSwitch 3U VPX Rugged further enables packet processing at all sixteen fully-duplexed Ethernet ports with up to 1000 Mbit/s at full line speeds (2 x 10/100/1000 Mbit/s Ethernet ports, 10 x 10/100 Mbit/s Ethernet ports, and 4 x 1000 Mbit/s SGMII).

AFDX / ARINC 664 p7 Implementation

Our AFDXSwitch 3U VPX Rugged supports traffic filtering and policing to ensure bounded latency and jitter for deterministic Ethernet networking as described in ARINC 664 standards with up to 8 priorities. The built-in management module runs on a separate CPU and allows data loading according to ARINC 615A/TFTP (and ARINC 665 loadable software parts) as well as ICMP & SMTP support. BAGs can be freely configurable from 0.5 to 1600 ms with a granularity of 100ns.

The AFDXSwitch 3U VPX Rugged supports 4096 virtual links and 4096 shared BAGs. A comprehensive set of built-in tests (power-on built-in test, continuous built-in test, initiated built-in test) is available for health management functions.
