- For more than 25 years, TTTECH has leveraged its know-how in dependable networking solutions based on Deterministic Ethernet for safety-critical systems across a range of industries in particular automotive, aerospace, and energy.
- TTTECH now extends its offering of certifiable, commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) network switching equipment to a new segment of the energy market.
- TTTECH has been selected by Worldgrid, an ALTEN company, to collaborate on a control system for six new nuclear plants in France.
Vienna, Austria, October 30, 2025: TTTECH has more than two decades of cross-industry expertise in dependable Deterministic Ethernet-based networking solutions. It is now extending its certifiable commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) solutions to a new market in a collaboration with Worldgrid, an ALTEN company, on a control system for nuclear power plants to be built in France as part of the “EPR2 program”.
In today’s increasingly interconnected world, the need for reliable, safe, and secure digitalization solutions spans all industries, including critical infrastructure such as energy production and transportation.
TTTECH has been supplying solutions for safety-critical systems to the aerospace, industrial, energy, and off-highway sectors for more than 25 years. At the core of TTTECH’s offering lies deep expertise in developing highly reliable networking solutions and products and a wealth of cross-industry certification experience. TTTECH processes follow demanding quality management standards including AS9100. Product development for critical applications complies with stringent cybersecurity standards such as ISO/IEC 27001 and IEC 62443 and functional safety standards across multiple industries (e.g., IEC 61508, ISO 13849, ISO 26262).
“Our goal is to create scalable, secure solutions that meet the highest standards across all relevant sectors. Safety and security are interconnected – to ensure safe operations, security must be embedded throughout the entire development lifecycle: from requirements gathering and system-level threat analysis to implementation and validation,” says Georg Kopetz, CEO and co-founder of TTTECH.
TTTECH is now extending its offering of Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) network switches that provide aerospace-grade certification and reliability for safe and secure operations in safety-critical infrastructures.
Worldgrid, an ALTEN company - TTTECH’s lead customer in a new segment of the energy market
A new application for TTTECH’s highly reliable switching solutions lies in the nuclear energy sector. Worldgrid, an ALTEN company, designs, develops, and integrates complex systems across the entire energy and utilities value chain. TTTECH has been selected by Worldgrid, an ALTEN company, and is now collaborating with them on a control system for six new nuclear plants that will be built in France over the course of the next 20 years under the EPR2 program.
TTTECH’s switching solution will be integrated into the operational control system of the nuclear power plants and ensure the reliable transmission of data within the plants’ communication networks. This operational control system will be qualified at safety class 2 as per the industry standard IEC 61513, which is the highest class for operational systems in a nuclear power plant.
Emmanuel Besse, CEO at Worldgrid, an ALTEN company, says they chose TTTECH because of its proven record in safety-critical applications, particularly for the aerospace sector: “We selected TTTECH for its deep cross-industry experience in long-term production contracts and obsolescence management, as well as for its certification know-how and the ability to deliver future-proof solutions with lifecycle support. TTTECH’s products will provide a key element for the safe, secure and reliable digital infrastructure for the EPR2 program, and TTTECH will ensure system availability and lifecycle support well into the 2040s.”
TTTECH’s TTEthernet® switch module core has been developed for and is already being used in several aviation and energy use cases. It is based on Deterministic Ethernet, a networked communication technology that uses time scheduling to allow real-time controls traffic and regular best-effort traffic to be converged on one Ethernet network. Time-scheduled traffic is partitioned from all other network traffic and therefore latency of critical scheduled communication is guaranteed.
TTEthernet is a commercial implementation of Deterministic Ethernet, based on open industry standards (IEEE 802.3, ARINC 664 part 7, SAE AS6802). It enables fault-tolerant, mixed-criticality networks as both safety-critical and non-critical data can use the same physical medium, thus reducing network complexity and supporting modular, scalable network architectures. This also enables simpler maintenance of complex networked systems and the avoidance of obsolescence issues, both of which are highly relevant for aerospace, as well as nuclear power, or other critical infrastructure.
Georg Kopetz adds, “We are excited to work with Worldgrid on this new application of our dependable networking technology in critical infrastructure. We can bring in our know-how in certifiable, mixed-criticality networking solutions, functional safety, and security to support the EPR2 program and a more resilient European energy infrastructure.”
