Kempten, Germany/Vienna, Austria, November 20, 2025: TTTECH and CODESYS GmbH have been successfully working together for many years. At SPS 2025 in Nuremberg, they are announcing a deeper cooperation. With CODESYS Runtime fully integrated into the Nerve edge platform, it will be even easier for users to implement a hardware-independent control solution.
CODESYS is the world's leading hardware-independent automation software according to IEC 61131-3 for controlling machines and systems. As the standard tool for PLC programming, CODESYS is used for simple and complex control tasks in many applications. The container-based runtime “CODESYS Virtual Control” abstracts the required hardware even more than before.
Nerve from TTTECH Industrial complements these capabilities with a secure, IEC 62443-4-2 certified edge platform that is managed in a cloud. It connects machines and IT systems, enables centralized software management throughout the entire lifecycle, and brings virtualization and container technology to the industrial world. This enables machine builders to roll out new digital functionalities, analyze data, and future-proof their machines - without compromising on cybersecurity and real-time performance.
Users will benefit from the deepening of the existing cooperation between the two companies: With Nerve as an edge platform bundled with CODESYS Runtime, they can significantly reduce software integration efforts. This creates an integrated ecosystem that offers machine builders a comprehensive solution for control technology and new digital business models. In addition, they gain added value by utilizing PLC data all the way to the cloud.
“The CODESYS Runtime integrated in Nerve allows customers to use fieldbus data for analysis and remote service applications and to centrally manage control applications. Thanks to the expanded cooperation and integration into the official CODESYS offering, we will be able to reach new companies and markets with Nerve in the future,” says Herbert Hufnagl, Senior Vice President Industrial, TTTECH.
