TTTech, the leading supplier of dependable networking solutions based on time-triggered technology and modular safety platforms, is adapting its safety control systems for critical applications in the medical field. The next generation of EXCOR heart pumps by Berlin Heart GmbH is based on the control platform of the company located in Vienna.

Berlin Heart GmbH, with headquarters in Berlin, develops, produces and markets innovative mechanical heart support systems. The company covers the entire spectrum of medical indications for heart patients of all ages from the newly born up to adults and is among the market leaders in the branch providing reliable and globally recognized products.

For the development of the next generation of EXCOR heart pumps, Berlin Heart is relying on cooperation with the Austrian technology company TTTech. The company, with headquarters in Vienna, is specialized in the development of safety-relevant, fail-safe control and communication systems. An existing safety control device from TTTech's modular kit has been further developed for the requirements of Berlin Heart and is taking on the control and supervision of the safety-critical functions of the EXCOR heart pump.

We are glad that our solutions can contribute to improving the quality of life of heart patients," says Dr. Markus Plankensteiner, Director Industrial Solutions at TTTech.
