Our engineering hub in Finland is specialized on Ethernet IP cores and related software. The chip IP cores are available for common FPGA families, notably the mature implementation of high-availability seamless redundancy for a wide range of industrial applications, in particular the smart grid. Learn more about this IP Solution here.

The FRS IP Solution and XR7 PTP stack products are maintained in Finland and are available through our sales offices in Europe and the United States.

The experienced team in Finland plays a key role in developing new chip IP solutions for Deterministic Ethernet including high-speed TSN for all our key markets including space and defense. It collaborates with our other chip development teams in Europe.

History

Flexibilis Oy was founded in 1998 in Tampere, Finland, concentrating on Ethernet-based wired data communication technology. The first product was a chip IP block named “FFEC (Flexibilis Fast Ethernet Controller)”, which was upgraded to Gigabit speed in 2006. A year later, support for IEEE 1588 PTP (Precision Time Protocol) was added, and the development of the “FES (Flexibilis Ethernet Switch)” started.

As early as 2011, Flexibilis released a version of FES supporting the HSR (High-availability Seamless Redundancy) protocol – the first one with Gigabit speed. With added support for PRP (Parallel Redundancy Protocol) the “FRS (Flexibilis Redundant Switch)” product was born, which is maintained until today.

In October 2016, the TTTECH group acquired Flexibilis and integrated its products into its offering for various markets. This provides existing clients with access to the commercial strength and innovative capabilities of a major industrial organisation comprising over 1,000 employees.
