Markets such as air-traffic control, energy and utilities, or other ground-based infrastructure require deterministic, safety-critical network technologies to fulfill safety standards and securely handle the increasing data traffic for surveillance, monitoring, and automated - increasingly autonomous - control. Deterministic networks provide guaranteed timing and predictable data delivery, which are essential for ensuring the coordinated operation of distributed, safety‑critical systems such as power stations or drone fleets. TTTECH is a specialist in deterministic networking solutions used across a range of markets, from energy to automotive, aerospace, and manufacturing. As an extension of its portfolio for ground control systems and critical infrastructure, TTTECH Aerospace is now offering the TTESwitch A664 Pro (19 inch).
The TTESwitch A664 Pro (19 inch) is ideal for ground control stations that require the management of fault-tolerant real-time data flows. It has a robust, ruggedized design for the use in harsh qualification environments and is resistant to salt spray, moisture, chemicals, and corrosion. The Deterministic Ethernet switch is designed for installation in 19-inch racks commonly used in data centers, air traffic management (ATM), and control rooms. The switch offers up to 16 loadable configurations, which simplifies logistics and operations with added flexibility across missions or modes.
The switch specifically targets use cases where product assurance down to the chip IP level is required and a long-term supply (25+ years) needs to be ensured. This switch is assembled in central Europe by an outstanding manufacturing partner that has been working for TTTECH for more than twenty years.
The TTESwitch A664 Pro (19 inch) provides a switch fabric that operates with a cross-bandwidth throughput of 15.6 Gbit/s across its 24 operational ports. This makes it ideal for redundant connections in safety-critical computing infrastructure. Among the first applications of the switch is a control system for nuclear plants developed by Worldgrid, an ALTEN company.
“With the TTESwitch A664 Pro (19 inch), we are bringing together three capabilities that are essential for next-generation ground control systems and critical infrastructure: Deterministic Ethernet for predictable, safety-critical communication networks built with standardized components and networking technology, development and product assurance conformant with highest industry standards, and a ruggedized design built to perform reliably in demanding environments,” explains Javier Gadea Ezquerra, Product Manager, TTTECH Aerospace.
The TTESwitch A664 Pro (19 inch) enables the implementation of critical network-centric applications. It uses a commercial implementation of Deterministic Ethernet – TTEthernet®. This is a standards-based real-time communication protocol for safety-related systems that integrates data flows of standard Ethernet (IEEE 802.3), ARINC 664 part 7, and Time-Triggered Ethernet (SAE AS6802) traffic on the same physical infrastructure. The switch can also be used as an integration point between a non-critical TSN network and a mixed-criticality TTEthernet network, thanks to its features for traffic segregation, ingress policing, and priority scheduling. The switch has a ruggedized design and provides deterministic communication with offline configuration management and a built-in self-test function, high port density and flexible media (copper/fiber) support for Gigabit links. It provides process assurance and compliance with relevant Aerospace standards such as AMC20-152A, DO-254 or DO-178C.
The TTESwitch A664 Pro (19 inch) is part of TTTECH’s Ethernet product portfolio that includes network switches and tooling. The portfolio is complemented by a range of services and accessories, including qualification and certification data packages.
