Helicopter - data network

Aerospace and defense organizations require systems that combine reliability, safety, and security with modular, interoperable, and upgradeable architectures. The MOSA (Modular Open Systems Approach) supports such modular and interoperable system design through the use of open standards, enabling multivendor integration, cross-platform reuse, and simplified integration of new applications or system evolution.

Next to SOSA (Sensor Open Systems Architecture), Time Sensitive Networking (TSN) is the key open standard here. It is being adopted as a data backbone standard for next generation aerospace and defense systems. TSN ensures reliable, low-latency data delivery across complex platforms, supporting real-time mission systems and advanced sensor integration.

At TTTECH, we leverage our proven expertise as a pioneer in Deterministic Ethernet technology and network architecture design and integration for programs requiring uncompromising performance and scalability. This includes MOSA-compliant data networking solutions for mission systems as well as integrated, modular avionics (IMA) for aerospace and defense applications. Consequently, we are expanding our portfolio of TSN solutions for the aerospace and defense sector, incorporating compatibility with the 802.1DP aerospace profile and certifiability to the highest levels of product assurance.

Project win: TSN solutions for HADES

TTTECH North America has recently been selected to deliver advanced TSN solutions to the U.S. Army’s High Accuracy Detection and Exploitation System (HADES) aerial intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) program, a milestone highlighting our competence in Deterministic Ethernet and the maturity of our MOSA- and SOSA-compliant product portfolio.

In this program, US government-furnished Bombardier Global 6500 jets are being equipped with advanced, deep sensing capabilities for multi-domain ISR operations at speeds, ranges, and altitudes not previously achievable. The open architecture digital backbone network will enable rapid upgradeability, reconfigurability, and cost-effective lifecycle management of mission system capabilities.

TTTECH will supply a 10 Gbit/s-capable TSN network platform, composed of switch and end point products aligned with the IEEE 802.1DP TSN aerospace profile, along with its industry leading network scheduling and configuration tools (Slate XNS) and embedded software.

TTTECH-furnished TSN solutions will be incorporated into SOSATM-conformant 3U-VPX based Nodal Access Units (NAUs) and TSN switch Line Replaceable Units (LRUs) provided by North Atlantic Industries (NAI), a longstanding technology partner of TTTECH. The platforms use a FACE®-conformant real-time operating system (RTOS) from DDC-I to enable the HADES digital backbone, delivering MOSA-aligned, timing deterministic performance for mission-critical processing and software applications.

Flexibility and choice: TTTECH’s technology and solutions portfolio

TTTECH supports its customers in the aerospace and defense sectors with a comprehensive, DAL A certifiable Deterministic Ethernet portfolio that includes switches, end points, and platform solutions that support standard Ethernet, ARINC 664 part 7, TSN, and TTEthernet. They have been widely deployed across the globe, setting standards for fault-tolerant, high-performance network platforms in safety- and mission-critical environments.  In 2026, our focus is on further increases of the cross-sectional bandwidth of our network switches and the careful expansion of our portfolio of interoperable solutions for both TTEthernet and TSN.
