A joint paper submitted by TTTech Labs Corporate Scientist Silviu Craciunas has been selected as one of three outstanding papers at the 30th International Conference on Real-Time Networks and Systems (RTNS 2022). The paper was co-authored with researchers from the Technical University of Denmark and the Beihang University in China. The RTNS conference took place from 7-8 June 2022 in Paris, France, and brought together experts from industry and academia to discuss novel ideas and research results in different areas of real-time and embedded systems.

The award-winning paper, titled “Real-Time Traffic Guarantees in Heterogeneous Time-sensitive Networks”, proposes a novel method to guarantee the timing properties of critical network traffic in heterogeneous TSN networks with legacy or off-the-shelf end systems that are unscheduled and/or unsynchronized. The novel method intertwines a network-calculus-based worst-case analysis within a more flexible TSN schedule synthesis algorithm, through which the solution’s optimality is leveraged to support heterogeneous TSN networks while still guaranteeing the timeliness of critical communication.

Silviu Craciunas: “We are very proud to have received this award. It is proof of the excellent global cooperation with our colleagues in Denmark and China. Ultimately, the results presented in the paper will also help improve the flexibility and applicability of the TTTech TSN portfolio to networked systems featuring non-TSN devices.”
