- TTTech Development Romania SRL was opened in 2006 as a subsidiary of Austrian high-tech company TTTECH.
- It is as an engineering hub for digital design and software development, verification and validation, and testing according to industry-specific standards.
- TTTech Development Romania SRL has already contributed to several well-known international space programs, including the NASA Orion spacecraft, which successfully completed its historic first crewed mission (“Artemis II”) in April.
Bucharest, Romania, May 20, 2026: TTTech Development Romania SRL was founded twenty years ago in Bucharest and is part of the city’s thriving IT and high-tech industry. A subsidiary of Austrian high-tech company TTTECH, the company comprises a skilled team of highly advanced electrical engineers dedicated to semiconductor IP design and integration, verification and validation, quality management, and related software development. The site contributed to a wide range of projects in industries with highest reliability and safety requirements over the past twenty years, among them the European launcher Ariane 6 and the NASA Orion spacecraft. Orion has recently flown on its first crewed mission around the Moon, a major milestone in the NASA Artemis program and the human exploration of space.
TTTech Development Romania SRL was founded in 2006 and is a subsidiary of TTTECH, a global group of high-tech companies specializing in safe and secure networked computing and safety control systems for a wide range of industries and markets, including aerospace, defense, mobile and industrial machinery, automotive, and energy.
Bucharest is one of TTTECH’s engineering hubs, focusing on software and chip development, verification and validation (V&V), and testing, primarily for TTTECH’s aerospace business. The team is proficient in certification and qualification standards such as DO-254, DO-330, ISO 26262 ASIL B, and ECSS. TTTech Development Romania SRL is certified according to ISO 9001:2015 and EN 9100:2018. Beside the deep expertise in safety and security, the team is also experienced in a wide array of application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) technologies and data networking standards, such as Time-Triggered Protocol (TTP), Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN), ARINC 664 Part 7, and CAN.
"We’re proud of what our team has achieved over the past years and our contribution to major international space programs. Most of our engineers have been with us for many years. They have a strong track record in software and chip IP development and deep technical expertise. What is important to us is mutual respect and fostering knowledge transfer within TTTECH, in our team, and beyond, for example through collaboration with local technical universities,” says Mihai Hangiu, Manager Chip Verification & Site Management at TTTech Development Romania.
Since its foundation, TTTech Development Romania SRL was key to a range of projects for safety-critical systems across multiple sectors – from automotive to industrial automation and aerospace. One focus area is space programs, starting with the contribution of chip IP, V&V, and project reviews according to ECSS standards for the European Space Agency's Future Launchers Preparatory Programme (FLPP), and continuing with the Ariane 6 launch vehicle, for which the company provided V&V of firmware test cases, and supported firmware and chip development. Ariane 6’s successful inaugural launch took place in 2024; it has since then flown its first commercial mission in 2025 and most recently launched in February 2026. The Romanian team also contributed to the development of TTTECH’s new TTE-Switch MYTHOS, a Deterministic Ethernet switch designed for reliable data networks for space transportation and satellites.
TTTech Development Romania SRL also plays an important role in TTTECH’s contribution to the NASA Artemis program, with firmware development and product assurance according to NASA and ECSS standards. Only a handful of Romanian companies works on NASA Artemis and the ESA Lunar I-Hab project. As Europe has ambitions to eventually fly astronauts with its own spacecraft to the Moon, this experience in human spaceflight is a strong asset of TTTech Development Romania.
Mihai Hangiu comments, “The Artemis II mission launch in April was an absolute highlight for us. TTTECH is on board the NASA Orion spacecraft and its European Service Module and our team in Romania has been working on this project since 2007, expanding the chip IP, conducting V&V tasks, and offering technical support. To see Orion fly around the Moon with a crew and to know that our team contributed to this, is a very special moment.”
In the coming years, TTTech Development Romania SRL is looking to strengthen its focus on the development of space applications in Romania and internationally. They have recently joined ORISPACE, Romania’s national space industry association, and want to deepen the cooperation with international customers in the low earth orbit (LEO) to lunar economy.
