electric Powertrain Monitoring Unit

The platform control unit ePMU (electric Powertrain Monitoring Unit) was developed to monitor electric power trains. The ePMU enables flexible integration together with power inverters and DC/DC converters for different power ratings. The ePMU provides interfaces to various actuators and sensors and forms the central system interface to the communication network.

The hardware of the control unit was developed according to ISO 26262 ASIL D. The powerful controller kernel of the ePMU was especially designed for safety-relevant applications in the automotive field, and it is based on a Dual Core Lockstep CPU of the latest generation. Power supply and system monitoring are protected by a Safety Companion Chip tailored to that CPU. The powerful and safe CPU platform allows a cost-optimized usage, because the platform control unit integrates, apart from safety functionality, vehicle dynamics functions and vehicle interfaces (including diagnosis) as well.
