Senior Software Engineer – Aviation & Space (m/f/d)

Are you passionate about top-quality software, know how to navigate in the world of safety assurance processes and would like to take a leading role in creating safe and reliable embedded systems? Then this position might be right. You will be a vital part of our software team working on tomorrow’s space and aerospace vehicles.

Your Tasks

  • Planning of software development for safety-critical embedded systems complying to applicable standards and using industry best practices
  • Technical leading of software work packages
  • Define new and improve existing aerospace and space software life cycle processes
  • Assess process compliance and review engineering work done internally and by our software suppliers.
  • Prepare and conduct compliance and conformity reviews, incl. certification liaison with authorities or customer’s representatives (SOI) and process assurance audits
  • Strengthen the process adherence, practical implementation, metrication, and continuous improvement by providing guidance, trainings and consultation to colleagues and partners.
  • Align standards, procedures, and workflows with specialists of related and interfacing areas like system engineering and central quality assurance

Your Profile

  • Technical degree -- preferably with reference to computer science or information technology
  • At least 8 years of experience in SW engineering with context to safety certification/qualification.
  • Completed several certification projects in aviation or space, from planning until entry into operation
  • Expert knowledge about software assurance processes in either aerospace (DO-178C, DO-330, ARP4754A) or space (e.g. ECSS-E-ST-40C, ECSS-Q-ST-Q80C, NPR 7150.2C, NASA-STD-8739.8A)
  • Good understanding of software engineering for safety critical real-time computer systems, including configuration management
  • Interest in Aerospace and Space industries, following trends and keeping up with changes
  • Committed team player, solution-oriented, happy to share own knowledge and work on improvements
  • Very good command of English

We provide an attractive and performance-based salary, which is based on your qualifications and professional experience. This position is subject to the Collective Agreement for Employees in the Metal Trade (“Kollektivvertrag für Angestellte Metallgewerbe”) and we offer a minimum salary of € 55,000.- gross per year. Actual compensation can be well above this standard.
