The current TTP specification does not specify a standard TTP physical layer. When developing a specific physical layer for an application, the user is able to choose from a wide range of cables, transceivers or protection circuitry. Depending on environmental influences, the necessary data rate or the lightning protections, an optimal solution can be constructed. The following factors have to be considered while implementing a physical layer: cable, transceiver, board layout, jitter, controller chip properties, termination and lightning protection.
TTTech has gained comprehensive experience in the field of physical layer analysis in the automotive and the aerospace domain. We support the design and review of a customized physical layer solution in order to save time and cost. After a thorough review of the physical layer schematics and the TTP interface, we provide specific recommendations for the transceiver, cable, lightning protection, galvanic isolation and the board layout.
Once a particular implementation is finished, TTTech helps to characterize the network to ensure that the necessary robustness and timing margin is available. Generally, we verify a certain set of requirements against a specific implementation. Our team provides full characterization of cable length, cable types, stub lengths, transmission speed, jitter and timing margin.
