In the past years, interaction of software parts in electronic control units has become more complex. However the increasing standardization of software components helps developers and engineers to contain this complexity. FlexRay-based communication offers a variety of advantages that can be reasonably used when the basis software conforms to the AUTOSAR specifications.

Because of the great number of signals and PDUs, an optimized and correct configuration of multiple dependable software layers in the FlexRay stack can only be ensured by using powerful tool and operating systems. An appropriate optimization and an efficient environment are required to reduce the efforts and expenses for increasingly powerful CPUs and memory.
