Generic Control Unit acts as Vehicle Control Unit in the electric vehicle Aptera2e |

TTTech Automotive is working with Aptera Motors on the development of the most efficient fully-electronic high-performance automobile in the world. In addition to the off-the-shelf control unit HY-TTC 90, which acts as central vehicle control unit (VCU), TTTech Automotive is providing the associated software modules and know-how in the area of functional safety. The safety control unit is equipped with a main CPU (including a memory protection unit) on which customer-specific applications run, and which transforms driver input and other important vehicle state information into torque requirements for the power electronics. A diagnosis CPU monitors the main CPU as well as all safety-relevant in- and outputs. If an error is detected, all output stages are shut down and the power train is transferred to a safe state. Because of this, the vehicle remains under control at all times. The Aptera 2e competed among the nine best vehicles in the finale for the coveted "Progressive Insurance Automotive X-Prize", and was chosen by Time Magazine as one of the best inventions of 2008. Aptera plans to make the 2e commercially available at the end of 2012. In addition to its excellent driving performance, efficiency, and innovative technology, its pricing is family-friendly. |
