Space and time partitioning is the cornerstone of Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA). IMA is created to support integration and isolation of many functions of different criticality on one computing unit. As a result, the number of control modules, system size, and weight can be reduced.
TTTech developed middleware for integration of TTEthernet and Wind River’s VxWorks 653 (ARINC 653) platforms. These solutions help to expand IMA benefits from the module-level to the system-level, without any change of legacy applications. Distributed IMA based on the TTEthernet protocol can significantly control system complexity while facilitating designs of advanced and reliable electronic systems with lower life cycle costs.
Available middleware supports Distributed IMA architecture in compliance with RTCA DO-297 Integrated Modular Avionics Development Guidance and Certification Considerations. This allows design of advanced integrated systems and distributed platforms based on Ethernet technology, which can host audio, video, critical controls and standard LAN applications in shared Ethernet networks.
