NASA Research

The NASA project SAAP (Single Aircraft Accident Prevention) was a cooperative effort directed at flight-critical system design technologies. Honeywell, SRI International, and TTTech were highly involved in all phases of this project.

Major goal was to develop a fault-tolerant integrated modular architecture including design, validation, and implementation technologies for the deployment of next generation aerospace electronic systems. The target application of this project was a FADEC (Full Authority Digital Engine Control) system. An approach for modular certification based on TTP was developed and finally presented to the industry.

In the meantime the concepts are used in Honeywell's Modular Aerospace Control (MAC) platform for commercial jet engine controls projects including jet engines for the Lockheed Martin F-16 and the Aermacchi M-346 fighter trainer.
